Rock Canyon Preservation Alliance
Manifesto
The Rock Canyon Preservation Alliance is a citizen group dedicated to preserving Rock Canyon, adjacent to Provo, Utah, for present and future generations.
We advocate protection of the mouth of the canyon, the canyon itself, and areas above and behind the canyon.
We actively support healthy cooperation between Provo City, Utah County, the State of Utah, the U.S. Forest Service, our Alliance, citizens, and any other parties with responsibility for the land and ecosystems connected to Rock Canyon, guided by a determination to maintain the highest levels of ecological health for the watershed, and for the canyon’s biodiversity, geological features, and beauty.
We support preservation of Rock Canyon for personal, recreational, and educational activities that do not cause harm to the environmental well-being of the canyon or to its use as a water source for the City of Provo. We oppose any activity that would endanger human life, or would compromise its ecological health or beauty. We believe the canyon should remain free of any commercial developments, and that all uses should be promoted by and for the public, without financial charges.
Rock Canyon Preservation Alliance is committed to
taking action that supports the stated principles of our Manifesto.
